Artist's Statement
I came to painting late, or perhaps painting came to me when I was finally ready to listen. The canvas is not a surface I work on — it is a space I enter. Each piece begins with something seen: a quality of light in October, the weight of a figure in a room, the way a road disappears into distance.
My work moves between oil on canvas and photography, and I find the two disciplines speak to each other in ways I did not expect. The painter's eye teaches the photographer to compose; the photographer's instinct for the decisive moment teaches the painter when to stop.
I am interested in what remains when the obvious is removed — the residue of experience, the emotional temperature of a place or a moment. If a painting makes someone pause, even briefly, then it has done its work.
Practice

Oil on Canvas
The primary medium. Slow, demanding, unforgiving — and endlessly rewarding. Most works are large format, built up in layers over weeks.

Photography
A parallel practice rather than a secondary one. The camera is always present in the studio and on location. Light is the subject in both disciplines.

Scale
Works range from intimate studies to large canvases of 100×150 cm and beyond. Scale is a decision, not a default — each subject dictates its own dimensions.
